Need an HDTV recommendation

I'm looking for an HDTV around 40-42 inches, under $1,000. It needs to be able to work well with DirecTV's HD service and a computer plugged in by HDMI. I mainly watch sports, movies and stuff like Simpsons on TV; as far as computer usage goes - mostly computer games of the sports and racing variety.

I was looking at either the Panasonic TC-P42S1 or the Sharp LC-40E77U. I only have one window in my apartment, not facing the TV directly (for glare issues). What do you guys think?
