For 10 years I've been using my Creative T6100 5.1 speakers with my X-Fi internal sound card, until it recently burned up, forcing me to connect my 5.1 to the onboard audio instead.

Since then I've not had enough audio jacks to connect my microphone at the same time, while also having a problem where audio volume randomly drops for 1-10 seconds. It stays constant in the Windows volume mixer, so I'm guessing it's an onboard driver issue.

I thought I would solve my problems and perhaps get better audio quality by getting an external sound card to connect my 5.1 speaker through USB.

The most popular products where I live seem to be the Asus Xonar U7 and Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro.

Should I get one of those, or perhaps there is some better device for me to connect my 5.1 speakers to my PC with?
