ok, so I dont understand this picture, rearranging the shapes changes the surface area, which is seemingly impossible, but this picture must be a trick or something.... can someone explain it ?? The bottom one is short a unit square area, but I cant figure out why.......

It is difficult to tell from the pictures, but the red and green triangles are not proportional, that is, the slopes of their hypotenuse(s?) are not the same. The green triangle is 5 units wide by 2 units tall. If it were scaled up to 3 units tall, it would be 7.5 unit wide. Neither of the combined triangles actually has a straight hypotenuse. The top one is kinked in, while the bottom one is kinked out.

I don't think there is any correlation with the Fibonacci series.

I don't know how many times this has been posted here, but the short answer is the hypotenuse of the triangles aren't a straight line.

It has nothing to do with the fibonaaci series. You don't even need math to solve this. Just cut the picture in half and overlay it.

We're having that one at least five times a year. The above explanations are all correct.
