Anyone with suggestions on a good replacement for a gigabyte 970A-UD3 mobo? I was looking at the GA-970A-UD3P version, figured that would likely be an easy swap out with minimal hassles (aka I dont want to do a windows reinstall).

Then again, maybe its worth a bit extra for more modern conveniences, namely uefi support for newer hardware.

TIA

I've got an Asrock 970 Extreme4 that's been bullet proof. I actually use it as an ESXi Server in a home lab environment where its been running 24x7 for at least a year. Of course its the only 970 MB I've used so I don't really have any points of comparison with other similar boards. I do have another ESXi server thats using an Asrock 990 FX Extreme 3 which has also never caused any problems in about 2 years running 24x7.

My desktop MB is Intel, but its on a five year old Asrock Z68 Pro-3 and has been running my mildly OC'd I7 2600K. so my experience with Asrock MB's has been very positive.

PS: I always re-install when swapping motherboards. If your current installation is not using uefi boot and you have an SSD you don't know what you are missing. My old desktop, now running Windows 10 Pro x64 and doing uefi boot from a samsung SSD will go from power off to log in screen in 15 seconds. It really is worth while IMO to reinstall for that reason alone. And of course if re-installing anyway, you could go with a 990FX board.
