Hello Anandtech guys,

Looking for some suggestions. I got a real cheap 7800 PCIe card on the way, I'm looking to swap out my DFI lanparty UT NF3, for a mobo with a PCIe slot.

Needs:
1 PCIe (will consider SLI if such a beast actually exists, but not necessary)
3 SDRAM slots (got 3x512 sticks)

I got the soundcard rest I'll assume is there. Would like to stick with ASUS, MSI, something fairly "sturdy".

Links to buy pages on newegg or wherever THROUGHLY appreciated.

Thanks,
A.

Edit: Guess I should of said, looking for recommendations of specific motherboards. Problem is these boards are fast on their way out, but alas I can't afford to get a 939 setup.

Might just wait, I did find this one which seems to suit my needs. Maybe I can find one at Fry's this weekend.

well, sounds like you never heard 3x512mb will run at 333mhz
try 2x1gb ocz platinum on sale at a place like monarch computer
I like the "quirky" Asus K8N4-E Deluxe, many complaints about it on the Internet. But, I`ve seen many positives for the MSI one with PCI-E.

...will run, or is supposed to run? I have 3x512 running at 400mhz without any issues that I can tell. Could you elaborate?

I wish I could, problem is, i'm broke as all get out, the video card is a freebie, all I need is a motherboard with PCIe thats not gonna blow up when I throw all my hardware in it. :)

The asus you mentioned isn't available at newegg right now, will poke around as some of the reviews looked positive and I know an ASUS board would be a good buy, the MSI is 2 ram slots so might pass on that for now.

Thanks for replying purplefan,
A.

That Tforce6100 board is passive and an awesome overclocker, however only 2 DIMM slots.

I found a super cheap ECS nForce4-A754, so I ran with that, it'll do and the price was right. Only problem now is when I put everything together the system isn't powering up (only with video card connected to PSU, which is odd because the PSU is a Enermax EG465P-VE, should be plenty of power). I started another thread about it, so I'll just end this thread by saying thanks guys for the recommendations.

System not powering on or POSTing = test outside case.

I'm running a ECS Nforce4-A754 motherboard with my A64 3400+ (S754) and a Albatron 7800GT PCIe without any problems. The ECS mobo has 3 dimm slots too

I'm using a OCZ Powerstream 520ADJ power supply. Are you using a 20 pin or 24 pin power connection?

ECS motherboard usually ship with clear cmos jumper set at clear. That prevent POST. check that

First thing I would do is check if the cmos reset jumper isn't in the clear position. Sometimes they set it that way at the factory to save the battery. I almost rmaed a perfectly good board once because of that!

Edit: Whoops...beat me to it.
