Need alternative to MS XPSP2's IIS...

Okay i am trying to get past dreamweaver's tutorials and things and i am new to server application things...

anyway i am getting an error wehn i try to install IIS from the add/remove windows components panel, about it not finding the proper file evn though they are there (it is a legit and legal copy of windows) anyway i ordered windows XP2SP PRO disk for free from MS to get the files off of there but i do not want to wait the 6 weeks it is going to take for it to ship....

so anyway i need a free Server app that will work like IIS, so i can test and run a server form the local host....is MySQL or Apache similar to this? or are they used for different things, i uinderstand what they are used for, but i also do not......

If you're trying to do asp.net applications, good luck, IIS is your only choice. Otherwise, Apache will work for pretty much everything other than asp.net applications.
 
Ty for the repsonces...problem sixed actually, i had a database corruption after installing SP2 a year ago, this is actually a common problem....i have IIS working now, but it did open me to all the open source progs out there....
