Need alot of help with a build

I'm looking into building a mid-range machine that I can upgrade easily. My thought process is that if I get a good mobo and a good processor, then I can upgrade the other components at my leisure.

I have about $600 to spend and I have some parts already.

I have:

-monitor
-NVIDIA video card I'm content with (for now)
-HD
-OS
-all peripherals (keyboard, speakers, etc.)

I basically need everything else. In a perfect world, I would find a barebones system that I could buy within my budget that I could use my existing parts with. I've looked over newegg, tiger direct and ebay. I'm sure there are dozens of resources that I'm missing and I could use any and all help. Thanks in advance

Reading is fundamental.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for - Gaming.

2. What YOUR budget is. - $600ish

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from- USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference - None, except for that I'd like to stick with my current NVIDIA video card

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are - Everything listed above

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads - Yes, I'm constantly looking. Almost too much. I think I'm overthinking the process.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds - I have no idea how to overclock

8. WHEN do you plan to build it - ASAP

1. What type of slot is the Video card?

2. Do you need case?

3. What about PSU? (Many old systems need new PSU when switching to current type of Mobo/CPU).

4. Look at this thread and start initial listing of what you like.

1. It's a a PCI-E 8800GT

2. Yes, more than likely. Don't care one lick about how it looks though.

3. Yes. Old one is about to die.

4. I would like a Duo Core 8500, I think. Other than that, I have no idea where to start.

For the power supply. I would look at the Corsair series or PC Power @ Cooling. PC Power has the absolute best RMA and customer support I have ever seen.

I take it you need memory as well ? If so, check out G.Skill.

If he's not concerned with looks I don't see any reason to spend $100 on a Nine Hundred. There are less expensive cases that are just as effective, and he really doesn't need a huge box for what he's doing.

With the mail-in rebate deals out there $80 is really more than you need to spend on RAM.
