Hello all,

I need advise on a CD player for my car. My parents will probably be getting this for me for my birthday, so I need to tell them pretty much exactly what I want. The problem is I don't really have a clue about car audio, so I don't even know what I want.

For starters, my car is a '93 Ford Probe with just the stock speakers. I don't really plan to change that in the future, but some expansion room is always good.

My only two requests are that it play MP3s from CD-R disks and (if at all possible) it has a miniplug (or something) input on the front so I could plug in an MP3 player.

So, what are your recommendations? I don't really know what price range we're looking at, so just throw me possibilites and I'll sort it out later.

Thanks,
Swan

ALpine 7894. I bought it locally when it came out for $379.00 but I'm sure you could find it cheaper if you wanted to get it online.

The DEH-P7400MP is being discontinued soon, if you're lucky you can get your hands on it or you can just get the newer model Pioneer head units. Pioneer has some nice equipment, i've had my CD Deck in my car for 4 years now, never skipped on me one and its still going strong.

Edit: The newer model is the DEH-P7500MP which is basically the same thing as the 7400

Excellent choices. I have the Blaupunkt San Jose. It's just so-so. It has the aux in the back. I don't smoke (not that smokers ever use their ashtray) so I just ran the cable into the back of the ashtray and coiled it up inside. Now if i want to hook up my MP3 player or anything else, I open the ashtray and pull out the cable. It would have been cleaner with a front aux input.

Ok, looks like the general opinion is a Pioneer.

Is there much difference between the 7400MP and the newer 7500MP? What is the price difference? I don't see the 7500MP on Pioneer's website.

Also, do either of those have aux. inputs?
