I have the Thermaltake blue orb Northbridge hs/fan combo and my problem is the mounting holes do not line up with the mounting holes on my ABIT NF7-S, so I used the 3m thermal adhesive tape that came with it. Well that didn?t work for very long, the hs/fan fell off my Northbridge and on to my graphics card. I had noticed my computer sounded different the past few days (Yeah I said days, hopefully I have not caused any damage to the Northbridge or the graphics card) and last night I decided to check to make sure all my fans were working and noticed that it fell off. Anyway what I think I need is some kind of adhesive thermal compound since the adhesive tape did not work all that well.
On a side note, is there a possibility I did some damage to my Northbridge considering it has NO active/inactive cooling for a few days? I had not had any stability problems until last night while playing the new splinter cell game where the game locked up. Also I was kind of worried that the heatsink does transmit electricity (considering it is aluminum) that it might have done something to my graphics card considering it was sitting right on the back of the board.
Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated.
