Need Advise from Lian Li Case Owners

I'm overwhelmed by the number of choices available. I know I want a mid- tower size case, I want good cooling because I intend to overclock, I want a very easy case to work with (slide out motherboard tray, the easy connector for wires, etc. I don't care about having a side window or fancy lighting - if that's the best case ok, but not necessary. And if I get a silver color case, do beige or black components look best. Thanks guys I appreciate any suggestions you have to offer.

You can't go wrong with any Lian-Li case.
I've got the PC-60USB.
If you get a silver case, I think most people feel that black drives look better than beige.
I, however, preferred to paint mine silver.
Here is how it turned out.

As a pc-65 owner, I'd have to reccomend that. Personally, I stealthed all my drives. If you didn't want to go that route, black definately looks better than beige. I wish I had a digital camera so I could show you some pics of how a decently modded lian-li looks with stealth drives.

I would vote for the PC60 also. I have one purchase almost 2 years ago when they were very new. Its just a dream to work in and around. I had
been using the standard beige drives until my upgrade a couple weeks ago when I switched to black. I think the black looks pretty sharp myself.

If you have drives already you can buy silver bezels for them made by LianLi if you want all your drives to match the case.

Or you can do a google search for lian li bezel and hunt around yourself.

I recently managed my first computer build in a Lian-Li PC65 Plus (couple of extra mods from pcmods.com). I had no idea what case to get and was overwhelmed by the options. I saw a recommendation for the PC65Plus that included a link to a sale price. I bought it moments later and then worried that I had overspent. I am sure there are lots of great cases out there, but I am very impressed with the quality of the LianLi. It reminds me of a sweet mountain bike frame or a hand pressed pair of skis. The cooling is great. The case temp is pretty much the ambient room temp. Of course, I have six case fans, and I wouldn't call it quiet (that's a project for down the road). I went with annodized black with black face-plate accessories. Looks good to me, although the brushed aluminum is pretty cool too. Now I want a cold cathode light and some led fans...

I've had a black PC-65 for about 6 months. I find it to be a wonderful case in terms of fit, finish, and flexibility! One mod I made was installation of a rheobus, which was money well spent. Although you have the stock fan control switch on the front panel, that only controls the front intake fans. I usually run the exhaust fans at 50% or less, making the system much quieter. Case temps are always 27C or less....

I've found the rear exhaust fan to be the biggest "culprit" in the noise department. Removing the stock fan grill (2 minute job with a Dremel) and replacement with a "stock" wire grill will make a world of difference!

BTW, those "stick on" front bezels don't look very good if applied on plain beige drives. You can use vinyl dye (found at any auto parts store) to "paint" the bezels to match. This is MUCH better than paint! it dries within 1/2 hour, runs will "soak" into the plastic in a day or so, and it won't wear off of buttons, etc...

Slogun,Christof and CubicZirconia, thank you for sharing your cases; it really helps. I would love to have any of your cases. Well done. So far it seems to be a tie between the PC60 and PC65 in terms of number of votes. Is one easier for a first build than the other? Or, is it personal preference?

I'm with Christof on the black PC61. Got mine on eBay with an Antec True430 power supply for $160. Check out eBay for some deals. Don't have any pics of mine, but it has a black floppy and black cd drives with blue trays and buttons. Looks pretty sweet actually. It is the older model with the silver buttons. That might be the next mod...

I am not sure about the windows. I got my case without the side window and cut it myself, which was a breeze to do. 20 minutes with a Dremel and the hole was in.

From everything I have read from Lian-Li owners.. they are all easy builds. I cant speak for the other models, but this one has removeable mobo tray, and removeable HDD rack. The HDD sits on edge right in front of the two 80mm fans in front, so a HDD cooler isnt necessary. Working with this case was nothing short of sweeeet! :)

one of the first things you'll notice about the Lian-Li's are how light they are and how much room you have to work with (I love my PC-60USB w/ custom window)

Get the SS Warrior, its a great case. I have it and air flow is no problem.....lots of that here :) Mpt exactly a Lian-Li Case, but still looks like one, and is awesome :D

SS Warrior looks nice, looks like a Lian-Li clone. It appears to be more expensive. Any advantage over tried and true Lian-Li?

I have too many drives for a mid-tower case.
If you are local to New Hampshire I would be willing to sell it, but I won't ship.
It's only a couple of months old and in like new condition.

I really do like the case. It's just I have grown out of a case of this size.

Btw, I don't see any advantages that Xoxide model has over a LL PC-65, I only see negatives. The PC-65 found at PCMods can be modded for $10 to include 2 blowholes into a much larger side widow (factory from LL). Also, that SS Warrior clearly lacks a removeable mobo tray, which is one of the nicest features on LL cases. Also, it doesn't look like the two 3.5'' drive cages are removeable on the SS Warrior. I'm not a big fan of Xoxide in general, as they botched up my only order with them and the guy was a prick about it. Anyways, I got my PC-65 for $$109+$10 blowholes + $15 shipping, but I don't think they are selling it for that price anymore.

BTW, I saw on another thread that there is a Lian-Li PC-7 that sells for less than a hundred bucks, yet offers all the same features as the PC-6x models? (there must be something that it doesn't have, but it may be a good deal for some folks looking to get a Lian-Li).

The LL/SS Warriors are just further modded Lian Li 60...

They do look sweet, and have the cooling of a mo-fo... Ill be getting one fer the good'ole birthday coming next month ;)

IIRC, the PC-7 does not have a removable motherboard tray or the fan speed control. Other than that it is identical to the PC-60.
