Since I'm kind of a skeptic, and I don't wanna be left hanging when and if Ram prices go back up, I'm planning on purchasing a stick of 512. Does this look good for $160.00

Generic 512MB PC133 Limit one per order
Product Code: 880088

3.3V nonbuffered dims Lifetime warranty

It's from memplus.com. I got them off pricewatch.

Do you guys think that this stick is good, or should I go and purchase a stick of like mushkin/micron excellent quality 256 stick?

I think ram prices are going up (see this thread)

as for buying generic ram I would say thumbs down. There is a difference, not everyone will have problems with generic ram but why take the chance? Micron is best for the money in my opinion.

Yeah two thumbs downfor buying generic. If you do you will learn a lesson. Ram is something to spend a few extra dollars and get good stuff. I bought 512 of generic and it sucked! I got the RMA and returned it for Crucial Cas2 PC133. 512 was only 190$.. a MUCH better solution. Dont cheap out.;)

Actually, I had no problems with my Zeus Components ram, but traded them away so I could grab some Crucial just for the name...

I heard some mobos have trouble with 512mb sticks... double check.

If you want cheap good quality name brand RAM, go to one of the following

MemMan

or

Mushkin

They both have Name Brand budget chips. (like Corsair budget ram)

You can get Crucial for a very reasonable price.... Somewhere like $85-90 for 256MB PC133 Cas2

Make usr eyour mobo can work with a 512MB DIMM, lots of boards have troubles working with 512MB or larger DIMM's.
If you plan on overclocking spend the extra for name brand RAM, otherwise the generic stuff should be ok.
