need advice...

In about 15 minutes i'm going to try setting up dual monitors. My primary video card that i'm running right now is a Asus GeForce 2 64 mb and i'm planning on putting in a Rage II PCI, not sure the specs on it, i got it for free somewhere or another. Is there anything important i need to know/do or can i just put the other video card in, hook up the second monitor, and boot up? Any help or advice is appreciated. I just want to make sure i do this right. Thanks

I don't have any experience with dual monitor setups, but I think Geek.com does a pretty good explanation. That setup is for Windows 98, but it should be basically the same for Windows2000 and XP. Hope this helps.

hey, i put in the card, XP Pro found it, and the driver dont work 🙁

ATI Technologies Inc. 3D Rage IIC PCI

any ideas on where i can get a driver for this card for Windows XP??? must get this to work, i have another card, but its older i THINK, not even sure what kind it is

Back when I needed to do real work, I did have a dual monitor setup in Windows 98 - and it's pretty much as you describe it. Install your AGP card first, then stick in a PCI adaptor - and as long as it is multi-monitor compatible, the PCI card will be recognized as a secondary adaptor.

ATI says to use the drivers that came with Windows XP. However, you said that the drivers do not work...give that old one a shot. You never know unless you try. 🙂

XP has native support for that card. ATI does not have drivers for the Rage IIC in Win XP on their website.

ok, here's the deal, i tried to reinstall the driver, says there's no other driver.

tried to go in and reinstall it manually, says this:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Suppose the video card is junk? I dont remember if i had it in a computer or if it was given to me by a friend. I'm not really sure about it.

Recommended Driver for WIN XP:

5.1.2505.0

my driver:

5.1.2535.0

Why is that? How am i supposed to get this other driver? Please help.
