Need advice: X2 4400 or C2D 6600

Hi, I'm looking for good advice from people who know what they are talking about, so i came here!

Planning on upgrading my old P4 Northwood but I have now reached a crossroads. I can either wait for the 6600 to start shipping and couple that with a single 1900xt, or get the 4400 now and two 1900's. I do game quite a bit, but also do a lot of photoshop/3d modeling work with some video editing on the side.

I realize that the AMD chip and motherboards have been out for a while and probably have more bugs ironed out than the C2D's.

Any advice would be extremely helpfull, thanks.

PS: As for OCing, I would prefer not to due to lack of experience, but it is an option, and I also should have posted in General Hardware, my bad!

If you can wait a little longer, I'd go with the E6600. Performance wise, it's equivelant to better than an FX-62, a good bit faster than the 4400+. While the 965 chipset boards are new, the 975 chipset has been around for a while now.

But the thought of Oblivion on two 1900's...makes me drool, especially since im upgrading from a 9800pro.

Thanks for the reply BTW.

Then get the E6300 and two1900s. It performs equal to or better than the 4400+ and price is within range too.

In a little while I'll be getting a retail Core 2 Duo. Once I get it, I'll sell you my OEM E6300 and Intel HSF (from a Pentium D 805) for $175. 🙂
