Hey guys. I'm trying to make a build for a new PC aiming for about $900 - $1100 (AUD) for gaming. I've never built a PC and only have basic knowledge of what I'm looking for in each part. So far (with the help of some friends) I've designed this build:

I'm planning on getting a HDD in the future but for now I'm fine without it.

What are your thoughts, are there any parts I should downgrade/upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see the questions, here are my answers to them.

1. Editing, animation and programming but mostly gaming

2. $900 - $1100

3. Australia

4. http://www.pccasegear.com/

5. Kind of leaning towards nVidia GPU and definitely Intel CPU

6. I've already got a monitor (1920 x 1200), headphones, keyboard and mouse

7. I will probably hold off on overclocking

8. I'd prefer to use native resolution but will settle for something like 1440 x 900

9. I will be buying and assembling sometime in mid to late December

10. I've already got a copy of Windows 10 on a USB

Also, I don't plan on buying a DVD drive. I'm willing to upgrade later, probably around mid next year.

Edit2: I've made some edits to my old build and created a new 1150 build:

After seeing your motherboard and CPU it's quite clear you won't overclock or have thoughts for SLI, right? Also the kinda GPU you're after, you seem to game on 1080p and won't mind turning down the effects notch a little, do you? So, if I'm right in my assumptions then you don't need to have that big PSU. Get something like 500-600 Watts maybe. Take a peek at this

Also, upgrade your motherboard so as to get the M.2 support for fast SSDs. Might take a look at this

Lastly, upgrade the SSD to 256GB so as to have windows, important applications and a most played game on it.

Just my ideas, wait for other veterans to comment.

Off the top of my head (and Jason already hit this...)

If it's a dedicated gamer, spend the extra money and get a GTX970 (vs the 960.)

Even with the 970, you still won't need that 750w PSU, 500'ish watts is correct.

Spring for the 256GB SSD... it makes life a lot easier. I actually have all my games on a single 500GB SSD (with the appropriate HDD backup) and I enjoy the faster loading times and having all my data to back up on a single drive.

Help us help you... copy and paste these questions, and then give us your best answers... I'm sure we can work up something a little better!
