I want to purchase one for my car so that I don't have to carry all the CD's on road trips. If you also know where to buy them at a good price, please post it too. I appreciate all your help!

Clarion just intruduced a CD/Radio unit that plays MP3s from CD-Rs. I would definately go with something like that instead of a regular player. You wouldn't have to carry as many CDs as well.

/B

EDIT: Model numer: DXZ818RMP = 4x50W and CD-RW as well!/EDIT

I want one that will play both CDRW's too. Also want one that is made for cars not the Volt or Mojo.

I work for a computer/stereo store.. the best mp3 player that I have seen thus far has been the Kenwood Exceleon Z919.. I am almost positive it plays. cdr's, cdrw's and mp3's

Aiwa MP3 CD player... plays cdrw's I believe.

I have a philips expanium portable cdplayer.. its the best I can do with with this present car. Maybe when I get the GTI I will put in a different system.

if you really go on a lot of road trips, just build a cheap one yourself out of an old pentium or something and find a cheap head unit with aux in. More space, easily upgradeable, and a hell of a lot better, in my opinion, than current expensive carmp3 decks. However, if you have to get a mp3deck, get the clarion.

Kenwood, Kenwood, Kenwood. While the Excelon model is best, they have a regular model, I beleive the 8017, that is in the same price range as the Aiwa, but much better.

I currently own the first generation AIWA-CDCMP3 deck. It works alright for the price I paid. I got it from crutchfield back in the days when it was HOT and luckily, I got the second shipment. Supposedly, some in the first batch suffer from skipping problems.

The deck plays mp3s, regular cds, has 2 AM, 3 FM presets, has auxilary input, and has some neato functions like settings which will jump to a particular station at a certain time of the day.

It plays mp3s off of 74 minute CDs, CDRWs, as well as 80 min cdrs. You can pack many songs on a single cd. I carry 4 full cds and usually don't hear the same song again for awhile.

If I were to buy another now, the Kenwood MP8017 seems to be the deck of choice. Because where I park isn't the safest, a detachable comes in handy. I've have 3 decks torn out of my car in my life and it's not a pleasant surprise.

I'm in the market for the same sort of thing. Looks like Kenwood's latest eXcelon is the z828. Any thoughts?? Is there anything cooler that should be coming out later this summer??

Thanks-drew
