Get the extra fan it will help with ambient temps. What Heatsink/fan setup are you using. I recommend TAISOL CEK733092, cheap and very effective.

I'm just running a stock 750 TBird with ASUS A7V in an InWin S506 case (not overclocking). The heatsink and fan are the AMD ones that came 'boxed' with the CPU. Have a fan in the 300W sparkle PS and one in the back of the case above the CPU (none in the front).
Here's my temp readings:
Cover off, idle - CPU 114F, MB 91F
Cover on, idle - CPU 118F, MB 89F (!?)
Cover on, load - CPU 122F, MB 87F (again !?)
CPU temp goes up, MB temp goes down...dunno why. By loaded I mean I'm running a dvd movie, surfing the net....trying to get a bunch of things going at once.
Edit... readings taken using the ASUS PC Probe SW that came with the board.

usually if a chip is not o/c, the temp should be around 3x-4x C, which is about 10x F, so i guess as long as you have a good fan and hs, you are good to go.

Wow. My GlobalWin FDP32 must be doing a job on my Celeron then because it's OCed from 366 to 550 and the temp is 32C!

Anything below 50C is AOK. Most AMD CPUs don't start to suffer until 65C. Mine run anywhere from 37C to 45C. No problem . . . I don't even think about it any more. As cooler weather approaches, the ambients will drop including in the case.
