I have been running the board for three months or so and have been very happy with it (550E at 700). I just got a D-Link NIC and a Soundblaster Live card and would like to know the best slot configuration for these cards. The only other cards in the system now are an older ISA modem and a V3 in the AGP slot. What would be the best location for the new cards?

Thanks in advance.

With my 6309, I left the shared pci slot open(of course) above it the Soundblaster, and on top of that the nic. I also have an older isa modem.

You will probably want to disable ACPI in the bios, avoiding misery.

If the soundblaster gives you any trouble, remove it and the modem in device manager, force an update in the bios, shutdown. Install the soundblaster first, shutdown, and then the other cards one at a time.

If you don't play DOS games, leave out the Soundblaster 16 emulation, it saves you an IRQ.

AGP
amr - nothing
pci1 - nothing
pci2 - NIC
pci3 - nothing
pci4 - Sblive
pci5 - nothing

No need to disable ACPI (unless you're running win2k...maybe) or SB emulation. Reserve IRQ5 in the bios for sblive emulation. AGP should take 11 or 10. Nic should take whichever AGP didn't. SBlive will take 9 and 5.
