Need advice so I can play a movie through projector and 5.1 surround

Hi, I’m new to this forum so I apologize if I posted this in the wrong area. I added pictures to this post so you can see what I am talking about.


I purchased a theatre in a box system. All the speakers jacks are located in the back of the subwoofer.

I also have a projector, I took a picture of it’s plug ins as well so you can see it.

I also need to purchase a blu ray/dvd player so we can watch movies on the projector.


I am not quite sure how to wire this all together. I’m looking for advice so I can play a movie through the projector and listen to my 5.1 surround sound. What kind of wires/adapters do I need and what ports/jacks would I need on the blu ray/dvd player I purchase? And, any suggestions as to how to wire that up would be appreciated.

This. It's definitely not HTIB, merely a surround speaker setup. You need an audio processing amplifier. Also your projector seems to be made for PC use only, not really designed for home theater use.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I am putting this together for a small town in Iowa with inherited equipment. My home has a much more respectable system.

Your best bet is a PC with BluRay drive and 6 channel sound out and dvi video out. What model is the projector?

Quick search reveals very little info on it, not even an image of the back of the sound bar. The bar itself likely has the appropriate I/O for proper interfacing via HDMI etc.

I looked at the manual, mentions bt, but no hdmi

You'll be able to do DVD with 5.1 if you get one with 6 RCA output but that's it. There's no digital path for video to have a HDCP protection so you can't do Blu-ray.

HDCP can work with dvi. But since I don't know the model of the projector, I cannot comment on whether it does or not.

Posible solution is a bluray/sacd player with pre out.

If you dont need bluray, get a dvd audio player, extinct tech so should be affordable.
