I'd like to create a video (AVI file preferably) created out of some pictures that I have. What I'm looking for is something that will let me choose the time to display each picture, allow zooms and pans, fade ins, wipes, etc...

Can someone recommend a program that will allow me to do this?

Thanks very much

http://www.picturetotv.com/

I found it while looking to do an animated photo album for my father's 50th birthday, set to music. The evaluation version showed very good results (it does place text on the produced video, encouraging you to get the full product), so we registered. It does pans/zooms, transitions, all timed to your specifications. Allows multiple albums per CD/DVD, unique soundtracks to each, with fade-out options. The intermediary form is mpeg, which you could probably convert to avi if you needed to.

That picturetotv looks cool, I'm downloading it as I type....
Edit - Got it installed.
2nd Edit - Made a quickie MPG - the zoom and pan functions are way cool. Good stuff.

diegoalcatraz - I don't see a setting to preview the movie before I burn the video file or to see what the different zoom and pan functions do, is there one? Guess I need to read the instructions, hate it when that happens........

Pinnacle Studio 8 is on sale at COMPUSA for $29 after $50MIR. It will do the transitions, music, titles, timings and create the AVI, but not zoom and pan each picture.

FREE STUFF!! This will allow you to pick a folder of pictures and instantly create a slide show set to music. Pretty cool for just showing off a bunch of pictures: Unidream Photo Player

Great, thanks Diego. This program looks pretty nice. The only problem is I want it on my PC, not as a VCD, but I can always just pull the files back off the disc after it burns it.

I appreciate the info!

Pinwiz,

Did a bit of research since I liked the pan and zoom function for stills:

The software I use, Pinnacle Studio 8, does not do pan and zoom. Pinnacle Studio 9 doesn't either, but supposedly a 3rd party plug-in will be available in March??

I would like to find an inexpensive progie that will allow me to make pan and zoom AVI's and then import them into Studio.

You can only make MPEG1 files Memories on TV unless you cough up the extra cash for the MPEG2 encoder.

Video Explosion Deluxe will supposedly do pan and zoom according to a thread I found on the Pinnacle Support Forum. ZDNet gave it a favorable review. I still need to do some more research though...........
