Need Advice Quick & Help in the future!

Hello,

My computer of the last 2 1/2 years (ebay buy) just died. I was going to buy a new powersupply until I looked over the motherboard with a flashlight and realized that I have several bulging and leaking capcitors 🙁 The computer was on its last legs but, I was trying to hold out for the new technology 🙁 I can't wait any longer and need to buy now (hopefully build the weekend?). I am a noob to building PC's but luckily printed a copy of mechbgons guide 🙂

I would like to keep my system to under $2500 if at all possible. I have the speakers (logitech 5300) and monitor already (samsung 213T).

I need some advice asap and help in finding some items!!! I know these requests come across the forums often but, your input is really appreciated!

Case: Raidmax Samurai $158

Processor: Athlon 3800+ retail (refurbish) $639.80

Would you buy a refurb fron newegg? $639.80. I don't know how to overclock? Would you buy the FX-53 and do a simple mutiplier overclock to make in an FX-55?

Ram: OCZ Performance Series $107 x 4 = $428

I have no clue on ram. I would like to have 2 gigs?

Power Supply: Antec 480 Watt $80

For only $19 more I can get the 550 watt model?

Audio: Soundblaster Audigy 2 Gamer Limited Edition $110

Hard Drive: Seagate 200 GB SATA $160

Wanted to wait for NCQ from Seagate or Maxtor 🙁

Do I need this with the processor I am getting?

First of all, I'm jealous, NICE LCD you have... I'm still debating on buying that beauty (213T).

Interesting case choice, but I do like the fact it has 2x120mm fans, those are great for keeping the airflow inside your case moving.

I'd go with the 3800+ since it would require a socket 939 mobo, which leaves you a wide open upgrade path. RAM is a good choice, and go with the 550w power supply. If you're into gaming, that MX510 rocks especially when you use it with a Func 1030 Surface mousepad (Link).

Thank you! I just added the func pad 🙂 If you have the case definately get the 213 some day, you won't regret it! My wife and I picked the case together (just came out today, been waiting a while).
