I'm driving up from Houston to the area just to go to Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington and need to book a hotel room for one night in the Dallas/Ft Worth area through priceline. Can someone suggest areas to stay in, or areas to not stay in? I know nothing about the area.

Priceline areas are:
Arlington - Grand Prairie
Arlington South
DFW Airport North
DFW Airport South
Dallas Northwest
Downtown Dallas
East Dallas - Mesquite
Fort Worth NE - Bedford
Frisco - Plano West
Galleria - Dallas North
Irving - Las Colinas
Knox - Northpark
Market Center - DAL Love Field
Park Central
Richardson - Plano

if you stay in arlington/close to the park, make it really really close. my brother had a house 3-4 miles from the park and it wasn't that good of neighborhood

Stay close to Arlington, anything else will be a bitch with traffic. There are hotels right by Six Flags.

Try bidding for travel for lots of help with priceline. Give you an idea of what hotels priceline may offer in that area and you can check the hotels on the web.

I just moved down here a month and a half ago so I'm not all that familiar with the territory yet, but it seems to me that Fort Worth is the nicer of the two cities. I'd stay at a hotel there if it were me.

With Priceline you can't choose the extact hotel/location, only a zone. So Arlington may be at the park, or 3-4 miles away.
But would the park be in Grand Prairie or Arlington South?

Also, what would the next best choice be?

I work across from Six Flags over Texas and the two nicest around here are the Arlington Wyndham and the Arlington Hilton, all less than a mile away from Six Flags. There's smaller chain hotels close by (Motel 6, Holiday Inn, etc.) so honestly, I would think that just driving up here and looking for a hotel close by would be the best bet.

Are the hotels still full from Hurricane refuges? I'm not sure if that is still an issue, but I'd call first to find out.

Nah, we were there last weekend. Stayed in Las Colinas at regular room rates. $69 Courtyard Marriot

Cool, got one in the Arlington Wyndham, across the street from SFOT. Perfect location.

If coming up I-45 from Houston, to get to the hotel, would you get on I-20W, then 360N? That's what google suggests. Then from 360 to E Randol Mill Rd (guess no direct access from 360 to Six Flags Dr).

another option is take I45 up to I30 West (since SFOT is at I30 and 360)...exit 6 Flags drive, go under the overpass and you will be right at the entrace...

You will see I30 just south of downtown Dallas...

FWIW, this is the route I would take...

Why? Wouldn't the traffic be worse? Scenery?
