Need advice on video card

I'm going to be building a new system soon (before any new cards come out, anyway), and I need some advice on what video card to get. First of all, I absolutely require a card that does 2048*1536 @ 85hz. That rules out the 9700 Pro.
I also want very good performance; something around the speed of the 9700 would be perfectly fine.
So I'm basically down to the 9800, 9200, and any of the FX's with decent performance. For a budget of around $300, what would be the best choice? Keep in mind that I wouldn't be using anti-aliasing very much, although aniso would be enabled.

Thanks for any help. I thought I knew what to get, and then all of these new cards came out with better RAMDAC's, so I have to reconsider now.

You won't get a Radeon 9800 Pro or GeForceFX 5800 for $300. Your best bet would either be to hope that a 3rd party manufacturer releases a non-Pro version of the Radeon 9800 for around $300, or hope the GeForceFX 5600 Ultra allows for 2048*1536 @ 85hz. If neither things happen, you're stuck with the 9200 Pro by process of elimination, but I'm not sure if it'll be decent for tomorrow's games.

for that resolution, you're probably going to want a nice expensive 2D card, not a 3D powerhouse

If I can run Quake 3 at 2048 and details maxed out at 20 fps on my current system, I don't think it is unreasonable to run that resolution. After all, it shouldn't take up any more bandwidth than 16*12 and 4x AA. Just so you know, my current system is a P2-400 with a Radeon 9000.

Also, ALL of the FX series supports that resolution. And I didn't want the 5800 ultra.

Basically, I'll be buying in about 2-3 months, and I assume that the 9800 will come down in price quite a bit. $350 would be good enough for me to go for it. But if a 5600 does a good enough job at high res, I'd rather save my money and go for that.

Parhelia simply isn't fast enough to justify using it, and it has many compatibility issues with games.

One final thing: My Radeon 9000 runs 3d apps slower than my old GeForce2 GTS did. If ATI still has issues with performance for 3d apps, I'll need to take that into consideration.
