Seems my old GF 6600GT is singing on its last tune now. So I need a new card in the $200-250 range.

I haven't stayed up to date with the video card happenings so what's the "good" card in that range right now? It was the 6600GT when I bought that and I have to get a replacement right now in case it breaks. I can't be without a video card for several days right now so I gotta order. But I thought I'd come here so I'll at least make a decent choice. It's for gaming.

I have a suggestion for you, if you can wait till dx10 cards come out, it would probably be the best thing to do. You can get a 7600gt to hold you off till then (it's a damn good card)

If you don't wanna play the "waiting game", then I'd suggest this for your price range:

If you prefer ATI go with this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102051

If you prefer Nvidia - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127218

I must tell you though, the 1900xt 256mb is a good amount faster then the 7900gt. It almost performs as fast as it's 512mb cousin.

Hope this helps.

I live in Sweden so any card above $200 will be about $50 more expensive here due to taxes and low competition. Means I'll also have to order from a Swedish store. Perhaps a 7600GT would be the best choice then? I really would be screwed if my current card breaks within the next 2 weeks or so if I got nothing to replace it with. At the same time, I don't wanna make any major investments on such short notice. So perhaps the 7600GT is the "sweet spot" for my situation.

Any particular brands/models I should look for for hte 7600GT?
