I'm looking for a new TV Tuner for my computer.

i want to get a PCI or PCI-E tuner.

i have a leadtek tv2000/xp...but it doesnt work with vista. and it was a POS. my budget is decidedly better now, so i want to buy a little up.

i'm intending on piping a PS2 through on S-Video, so it needs to not be extremely laggy on analog inputs.

atm i was looking at the Asus EHD3-100, but one review i read talked about the extreme lag on the analog inputs. that'd make it worthless for my purposes.

i was also looking at the ATI TV HD650 series... and that looks good, but from what i can tell it has an audio out cable from the card...i'm guessing to go to the sound card like the TV2000/XP? that kind of frustrates me. i'd rather it feed into the sound system internally... especially since my sound card only has 1 plug used for both line in, digital out, and microphone in. i suppose i could make the microphone go in the front, but it's still an irritation.

any suggestions?

what has a tv tuner got to do with a ps2?

uh.... i need a tv capture card of some sort to input S-video to the computer monitor, since it only has VGA and HDMI inputs.

i also want to watch TV on the PC. we dont have digital cable, so it's gotta have ntsc capability. we do get some digital channels... the same ones i'd get over ATSC, i think. anyways...

yeah, i want a TV tuner card that accepts S-Video and doesn't have a long input lag.

Don't know about input lag, but might want to research Hauppauge 1600 or 2250.

Isn't it easier to get vga output from the ps2?

Atsc tuners do exist on pci or usb.

how would you suggest getting VGA output from the PS2? it's not an xbox, it doesnt have a VGA cable.

i know atsc tuners exist on PCI or USB. but PCI-E has more bandwidth, and would handle the traffic better. i dont want a USB tuner. beyond that, USB is SURE to have input lag.

if ota you would only need atsc, if cable or satelite you would need ntsc and atsc i suppose, i use the avermedia digital 788 pci express atsc only, excellent recording and playback, the hauppauge 2250 is said to be another good one, def go with pci-e but dont expect much in the application software from either of the above, pure crap, media center is what most use which works well.

They exist, check your local game store bargain bin.

Worst case you can get one of these

I don't see how higher bandwidth of pci-e is going to help you since all pci-e tuners are pci-e 1x

Tuners don't need as much bandwidth as you think.
