Here is what I have picked so far below. I can't decide if I want to go with AMD or Intel though. I am hearing different stories from others that Intel isn't good for games, stay with AMD. And my current Dell has a Intel Pent D and has been nothing but a issue. So I am curious what you guys have to say. Help me complete this system. I want to keep the cost between $500-600 shipped for all the parts and use quality parts as well. This is going to be gift for my brothers Christmas. It will be used for gaming, internet browsing. If you think some parts need to be moved around, give me some ideas. Thanks!

24" Dell Monitor 2407fpw
Vista Ultimate
Keyboard / Mouse Wireless
TV Card

Intel is awesome for games. Don't know what they are smoking.

Intel is cheaper and better at the moment, as far as the performance you get. Get a nice Core 2 Duo and P35 chipset motherboard.

Any advice on what to complete the package above? Like what processor, fan, and board?

Thanks!

For a cooler...depends on if you are overclocking. If not, you can probably just use the packaged cooler with these chips. If you want to overclock, you'd need something better. Maybe a Thermalright Ultra-90 for a less expensive option. Or a Scythe Ninja Mini.
