Need advice on RAID and SSD

I just bought a pair of Kingston 64GB SSDa and was wondering how well they work in RAID. Last I heard Trim wasn't supported for SSDs in RAID arrays. So is there a utility to run to simulate a trim? Or do certain drivers/controllers support trim in raid mode.

Thanks for any advice

ps. My drives are model #: SV100S2/64GZ

And they are on sale for 73.99 after rebate and the rebate is good for two drive purchases.

Nope, AFAIK nothing you can run on them. You will have to rely on their native garbage collection. I think these are the JMF618 controller drives, which are nothing exciting. They should still thoroughly trounce a HDD though.

so garbage collection works in raid mode then? I think the controller supports it. at least it should.

They should arrive next week and maybe I'll play around with raid mode and see how things go.

Thanks for the reply

All SSDs have a built-in garbage collection that will work in any drive configuration including RAID.

The MB's drive controllers have nothing to do with garbage collection.

GC takes hard drive idle time to work and isn't as efficient or complete as TRIM but it will get the job done.

You're good to go!
