need advice on purchasing cookware

I'm looking to buy my mom and grandma some quality nonstick cookware. They cook a whole lot and have finally worn down some of the pans.

I have a budget of 200 dollars. I'm looking mainly for 2 saute pans, but if I can get a whole set for this much and still get lots of durability and cooking performance, then that's even better.

And while on this note, should I be scrubbing some of my pans with the green hard side of my sponge, or the soft yellow side?

edit: meant saute pans. whatever!

thanks. I remember when I was small and I was washing my dad's car. There was some stubborn tar or something, so I got the scrubber out from the kitchen and started scratching away...I figured it's probly not too good for cookware as it was for paint 😱

Just go to Target or whatever and pick up a 10 piece set of Calphalons (sp?) They're great quality and nice looking to boot. 🙂 Not exactly chef grade, but they're a step or two below. Grab the adonized set if you can afford it, they're probably the best. (Should be around $200 or so)

Several friends have the Kirland Signature Hard Anodized Cookware and give it good reviews.

They usually also have a nice stainless steel set in the stores. I was going to get that, but ended up with Kitchenaid when ourhouse.com clearanced everything.

If you're just looking for one or two pieces, you may want to scan the hot deals forum--people post cookware deals from time to time.
