I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card from a 560ti and my budget is around $550. I've been looking into the 7970 lightning and the sapphire x 7970. I'm currently using dual monitors at 1920 x 1800, with i-7 3770k. I'm basically looking for the most bang for my buck in a single gpu. In the future i am planning to overclocking my gpu.

I'd go with the GTX 670 which you can get for around $300! Especially if your gaming at 1920x1800

I upgraded from 560 Ti to a Sapphire 7950 and overclocked it to 1100mhz on stock volts. It plays everything pretty much perfectly - there's no need to spend more money on 1080p. If I were you I'd get the Sapphire 7950 for $280 AR and save the rest for later upgrades.

Also, what is your CPU?

I disagree with the GTX 670, The 7970 can be overclocked past the 680 and is much better value for money

Especially when you consider that "decent" 670's with a top quality cooling solution are still going for closer to $400 than $300. They are still limited to 2Gig of RAM too, unless you want to spend even more.

On a side note, I can't believe that they are still advertising the MSI 670PE as, "Triple Overvoltage: adjust the voltage of GPU, memory and PLL to unleash the potential of graphics card." Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that feature axed?

I have the vapor x GHz 7970 I like it a lot. I think I paid $450 for it. I've had no issues really other than my monitor not being 120hz

would the sapphire vapor x ghz edition worth $600

Not for gaming. No need for the 6GB frame buffer. Doing some OpenCL rendering of scenes > 3GB though would be a different story. If you are looking for a premium model card you'd be better looking at the Asus Matrix Platinum (if you can find one) or the MSI Lightning, or even the 3GB Vapor-X. That would be the order I would put them in. The Lightning is the only true 2 slot model, if that's a factor for you.
