I am unable to overclock my system using the "266" (1:1.5) memory setting. It runs fine at "200" (1:2) and "333" (1:1.2).

Using the "266" memory setting, system will never get to the Windows boot process. The last POST message finishes, then it freezes at what should be the start of the Windows boot. I can still see the POST messages at freeze.

I can OC using a 9X289 CPU setting, and "333" memory setting. HTT is 3X. I can also use 9X300 CPU and "200" mem. (9X289 and 1:2 ratio works, too.) I settled on 9X289 & "333" because it gave better 3DMark05 score "CPU" score that 9X300 & 1:2. That was in February while 65 deg room temp. 17+ hours Prime, 17+ hours Memtest successful.

Recently, BF2 game started to unexpectedly crash. I checked Memtest, and got a few errors over the course of 2 hours. Room temp was 5 to 10 degrees warmer than when tested in Feb. I added additional 120mm fan, and set to "high". Mem volt turned down to 2.7 from 2.8. Crashes gone, & 17 hours Memtest runs fine.

Even so, I would like to back off of the memory OC a bit more to avoid crashes as the summer gets hotter. (No AC.)

The only real stresses for the system are BF2 and Oblivion, so the OC does not have to be too near the max. (Of course, it might run 9X300 & 266 mem ratio...)

9x289 CPU with a 1:1.5 memory ratio (~192Mhz) would probably be a good setting. Under full disclosure, I can get the 266 memory ratio to work, but CPU has to be lower than 9X235, and that is not much of an OC compared to its potential.

What gives with the "266" limitation?

Thank you for your time.
