hey guys..as you can notice from my sig, this overclocked PII has reached its limit...I want to upgrade as soon as I can, so this is what I have in mind:

* MSI K7T Pro2-a mobo (costs around 140 dollars here)
* Athlon T-bird 1 GHz (I can get it for 280 dollars here).

Yeah yeah.. the prices are too high, I know, but you should keep in mind that I'm living in Kuwait, and those might be the best prices over here.

However, I can wait for a couple of days to get an ASUS A7V133 (the one that uses the KT133A chipset).

I know the KT133A chipset means I'd be able to raise the FSB higher than the KT133 (therefore a better overclock), but I've been wondering..

Will the Palomino run on the same KT133A chipset and its mobos? If so, then I'll get a KT133A mobo..and run the same 1 GHz..

However If the palomino doesn't run on the KT133A mobo, I'll get the KT133 one because it will cost me less..compared to the KT133A one.

So? Please advise me, leet people! :p

It looks good to me. I don't think it supports the new Palimino, though, but I could be wrong. Anyone? With that smokin' fast 1Ghz Athlon you're gonna have an enviable system.

Congrats.

If I really had my heart set on the K7T Pro2-A, at least I'd get the one without the A. Much stabler.

Seems okay, the K7TPro2-A is a great board but I'd recommend waiting a bit and going for the Asus A7V133.
It seems likely that the Palomino Athlon will work on any KT133A boards that support a low enough core voltage.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Rand: are you positively sure that the palomino will work on the KT133A board? Its probably going to cost me 30-60 dollars more than the KT133 mobo..However, If it does support the palomino.. then it's worth the extra bucks..besides, I'll be able to overclock the tbird even more.

This got me thinking..How far will AMD go? I found a couple of places at pricewatch selling the 1.3 Tbird..but will AMD continue manufacturing processors using Socket A? The upcoming Palomino was rumored to have clock frequencies starting with 1.5 GHz..If this is the case, I'll happilly get the KT133A board.

The price over here for a 1GHz tbird is similar to the US's price of a 1.2 one..Hopefully I'll be asking a friend of mine who's studying in the UK to get me one at a decent price..not sure the UK prices are much less than the ones over here...but you never know.

Thanks again..any comments or opinions will be appreciated! :)
