I need some advice on a new Psu.

I originally had a visiontech 4850 but, I got a great deal and up graded to an ASUS 4870.

Here are my first system specs:

Intel E7200 O'ced to 3.8 GHZ
Asus P5Q deluxe
OCZ titanium 2 gigs 6400
Zalman 9500 cooler.
Cooler master 550 watt Psu
Wd 150 Gb raptor Hd
Seagate 500Gb Hd

After installing the 4870, I was getting all type of shut down problems and crashes. I searched the web. I updated the drivers to cat 8.7...uninstalled..reinstalled. downgraded to 8.6. I did the fan fix. I thought that it was a bum card. Then I put the card into my other system:

Intel Q6600
Evga 780i Mb
Tuniq tower
Ocz 700 Watt Psu
WD raptor 150 gb
OCZ pc 9200 2GB
Evga 8800 GTS G92 512(I took this out to put in the 4870)

The Card worked like a charm. So i contributed my problem to underpowered PSU.
The OCZ psu Had 2 6 pin connectors and the Coolermaster had one 6 pin and i had to use an adapter.

Here is a link to the Coolermaster PSU.

Here is my delima. I'm looking to buy a new PSU.
I want to have 2 systems. 1 for gaming and one for editing and etc.

I am considering going crossfire soon(Getting another 4870 0r getting a 44870X2 when it launches) so I want to future proof my Psu for a while and the coolermaster Psu wont fire up my Evga 8800Gts in my backup system. Here are my 3 choices. What do you guys think would be the best choice for me. I did a little research. Seems like these are good choices and good prices without having to splurge on a 1000 Watt PSU.

If you guys have advice on another PSU please feel free to give me some advice.
I'm probably going to sell the Coolermaster..its pretty much useless now?

That 550W which Cooler Master claims is a peak rating, not continuous. A Corsair VX550, BFG LS-550 or Antec TruePower Trio 550 will all put out much more usable power (especially the all-important +12v rail) than that Cooler Master.

For a unit good enough for Crossfire 4870, the Corsair TX750, PCP&C Silencer 750 or BFG ES-800 are all good units. You just missed a killer deal on the BFG ($90 shiped AR), so the Corsair might be the best deal right now. Provantage has it shipped for a few bucks less than Newegg. No rebates on the BFG ES-800, but Buy.com has the best price for a PSU that's a bit more powerful than the other two (and probably quieter than the PCP&C Silencer).

He did mention running a 4870X2 alongside his current 4870. I might be wrong, but 750w might be a little on the short side for running that kind of setup. A rig with only a HD4870X2 draws 406 watts of power in AT's preview. Add a HD4870 to that (add 150w) and you're looking at 550w. Theoreticaly 750w psu's should be able to run it, especially high-end units like the tx750 and the pcp&c. But then again, tripple sli rigs that draw like 700-750 need 1200w PSU's, or they won't even boot. So if you only intend on adding a single HD4870, fine with a 750w PSU. If you really are contemplating adding a HD4870X2, then do some more research.

Also make sure you get a PSU with 2x pci-e 6pin and 2x pci-8 pin connectors.

Ahhh, yes. I guess I missed the "x2" part. You make some good points that the OP should pay attention to.
