My friend is buying a new home. Very nice neighborhood, but the house is on a corner lot. Lot of people has told him that the resale value of a corner lot is very poor and unsafe for kids. Help me talk him out of buying this home.

Anyone have any experience of reselling or living in a house on a corner?

I live in a corner house, all you need is a good fence and you will have more yard space and privacy.

have people said this, or did the real estate agent say this?? Also why would a corner house have a lesser re-sale value??

does the other street have high traffic? me and the mrs stayed away from buying corner houses near high traffic streets because we have a new little girl and we didn't want her to be near high(er) speed traffic and because there's more noise on a high(er) speed street.

The neighborhood does not allow privacy fense (only split rail fense). Fense can not pass the house near the street, which means if he fense the house, he can only fense half of the backyard..

I always thought corner properties were more desirable.

I see them as more lawn to mow, though. My parents' old corner house and a long driveway, and lots of yard => lots of work.

I'd look at the traffic flow. If it's near the entrance to a subdivision, I'd skip it. Otherwise, corner lots can be kinda nice...lots of room for kids to play.

cul-de-sac lot's seem to sell the best, but as far as value goes, it should still compare with the rest of the neighborhood.
