I am needing to order a new computer. I have purchased Dell's in the past, but no more. I am looking for a high-end computer, no expense spared, high performance, handle the toughest of tasks, games, programs, etc. I am seriously considering ordering a custom built computer from Monarch.
I have selected the following for your consideration, advise, criticism, suggestions:

Your thoughts?

A few questions....Is there any difference between the GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards? Gigabyte/Pny/eVGA/BFG...etc...? Do you recommend the nvidia 6800 Ultra or an ATI card? I have always had ATI cards, but from what I have read the nvidia 6800 ultra performs better on the AMD FX53 than ATI cards. Furthermore, it appears that the Ultra Extreme version is really not all that better than the Ultra. Correct? From what I have read, the Ultra Extreme may "overheat" or actually test worse because the over-clocking is "too much" and begins to be counter-productive to higher performance. (I don't really know how to explain it, ...I guess....I have gathered the impression that the Ultra is more reliable than the Ultra Extreme. Correct?

Moreover, I would really like to order this in the next couple weeks as I am a beta tester for a big MMORPG coming out. Was going to wait until November to order and see what was "top-notch" then. But my computer now is soooo bogged down its not even funny. Do you believe there will be significant technological advancements released in the next few months? Will the 939 socket board allow for all upgrades to my CPU and will the MSI motherboard allow for all other upgrades/enhancements that may come out over the next year or two?

Finally, would you recommend that I order a "top of the line" computer from Alienware instead of ordering from Monarch? Any other suggestions on where to purchase this type of computer?

Anyway, please give me your thoughts. I really don't mean to be arrogant, but money is not the issue. Please give me your honest thoughts considering the expense to be irrelevant to the issues at bar.

Thank you greatly. I do appreciate yopur patience, time, and effort in responding. This is my first post, so please keep the flames on my computer and not me....hehe...lol.

Wouldn't it be more fun to build it yourself? If I get a customized computer, I would rather build it myself.
Instead of the FX, I would get the Athlon 64 instead. It is a lot cheaper with same performance.

If you build it would this be your first build from scratch??? If so it is a great learning process and loads of fun.

Yes. It would be my first build from scratch. Although, I have upgraded my computers in the past by personally upgrading video cards, DVD RW, CDRW, and memory. However, I have never handled the CPU or "Wired", or anything else.

I do believe I could do it, but Monarch will build it for 50 bucks or something cheap.....so why take the chance I might screw it up....

Does anyone know if AMD FX-55 Processor will be released? Anyone know if any other AMD 64 bit processors are expected to released by year-end that are better than the FX-53?

I build em, and what I would suggest is a 6800GT over the Ultra. Nearly identical card, very close in performance, les expensive.

thats a awesome comp. as for the socket 939 thatl be around for awhile so yould beable to upgrade later. you could just buy a 3800+ and wait for the next FXs later on. as for Alienware dont even think about it. and if you really dont want to build a comp 50 bucks doesnt sound so bad especially after spending so much on the rest.

if you wanted to save money you could get a 6800gt and overclock it to or past ultra speeds. heard some strange things when over clocking the really high end ones

Toss the second Raptor/RAID and get a storage drive of some size. I'd agree to go with the 6800 GT and just overclock it, especially since 6800 GTs are so much easier to come by than Ultras. I'd also probably agree to go with the 3800+ if you don't plan on overclocking a lot.

Is there any difference between the manufacturers of nvidia cards? I see PNY, eVGA, BFG and Gigabyte make 6800 cards. Any difference? What would you recommend? Does eVGA make a good nvidia 6800 card? Are they all the same?

hi,

i would suggest BFG , you'll get your gpu oc'ed straight out of the box + a lifetime warranty. go for the BFG 6800 GT OC (going to buy this gpu too) - just be lucky enough, to get your hands on one of those.

-btw. can't really say something about the other manufacturers....so - i'm not saying, BFG is THE best .... perhaps there are better manufacuters, but BFG would be my choice.

and btw...... great rig you came up with - looks expensive - but really good.
