Those parts are good, but it is helpful if you describe how the system will be used and what your budget is. That info will help others evaluate the wisdom of your choices.

I would be wary of putting value RAM in the DFI board. It works for some, and not for others. Check out DFIstreet before you purchase RAM for that MB.

And if you plan to OC, you'll want some RAM that runs well at the high voltages the DFI can provide.

AMD 64 3000 Venice - Good choice
DFI Lanparty NForce4 Ultra D s939 - Good choice
Corsair Value Select Dual Channel 1024mb PC3200 - I hope thats 2x512. Also, be best to be 100% of compatibility with the board
Leadtek PX6600GT TDH Extreme PCI-E 128mb DDR3 - I personally would go with a 6800GT, theyre mid to upper $300s as opposed to upper $100s or low $200s, but if you cant spare the cash, the Leadtek is a solid performer as well as not being a jet engine(Ive got one myself, but wish I woulda bought a 6800GT instead)
OCZ 450W Modstream PSU PCI-E ready - Good choice
Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000 Aluminum Case w/ Window - UGLY! :>
Seagate Barracuda SATA 160gb /w NCQ x2 - Winner. Best price per GB for the Seagates with NCQ.
LG GSA-4163B DVD+RW, DVD-RW, Dual Layer Black - Dunno anything about it
LG 16x DVD Black - Dunno anything about it
Saitek Backlight Executive Keyboard - Dunno anything about it

Also, if youre looking to quiet down the stock HSF, Id look into the Thermalright XP-90 if I were you. If you do get it, make sure you get a Panaflo L1BX for the fan, not the crap that comes with it.

Well I'm not much of a gamer so the PX6600GT is already overkill, just wanted something that would last me 3+ years. Yes the Ram is 2x512 and from what I've read works fine with the DFI.

I also don't plan to do any overclocking at all, just want a solid and stable system.

All told it's going to cost me almost $1600 Can not including monitor or speakers. I just bought the Logitek x-230 speakers for $55 (fantastic speakers for the price) and I'm still looking for a monitor. I'll probably just buy the Viewsonic A91F+ 19" CRT for $300. I still think the LCD's are too expensive and I'm not really all that concerned about the size.

If you're not overclocking, then why get the DFI board? You can save a lot of money, like 40+ dollars on a cheaper board, like a chaintec, and spend it on something else, or just keep it.

Two reasons really, the other two MoBo's I was looking at cost within $20 + or - of the DFI (Asus and Gigabyte) and the DFI's have gotten rave reviews everywhere.

dfi nf4 memory post #14 if you haven't seen it yet. as a rule, value ram is no bargain with the dfi, but i didn't check yours.

i agree with the dfi even for stock. why not get the best?

Yeah, memory seems to be a crap shoot no matter what you get. I've talked to some people who haven't had any problems with Value ram and others that have. Plus with the benchmarks out there showing no real benefit from spending twice as much on non-value ram I don't see the point. I'm just hoping I get lucky.

get the NEC 3520A dvd burner, its really good. i agree that the main problem with the DFI is that you have to know what you're doing to get it to work. it can be tricky. especially if you're not lucky with the ram.

I've never had a problem with LG drives, and this one was ranked the highest on one of the websites I checked out (cdreview.com or something like that).

I price matched the card to $255 canadian give or take which was the same price as the non extreme version. I grabbed it because it's factory overclocked so it's still has the warranty and also because I do play some games and this give me a much longer life span than a cheaper vid card.
