This might be a dumb question, but I'm just kind of confused and unsure about the whole thing.

Currently I have a 4-port netgear wireless-b router. I am using all 4 ports and an additional laptop connecting to it wirelessly (802.11b).

I would like to turn one of my PCs (wired) into a media server. I also want to add an additional client using wireless-g. I've already purchased a new wireless-g router (ms mn-700). I'm not sure what the best way to set everything up is.

Here's a breakdown of the equipment:
DSL modem
802.11b router
802.11g router
laptop w/ 802.11b card
pc w/802.11g card
3 desktop pcs w/wired connection
1 media pc w/wired connection

Now, I could just replace the 802.11b card in the laptop with a 802.11g card and have everything going through the wireless-g router. But that would mean 4 wired clients and 2 wireless clients. Is that going to overload the router? I'm mainly concerned with throughput between the media pc and the one wireless-g client pc. Would I gain anything but just putting those 2 clients on the wireless-g router (making it an access point) and keeping everything else on the wireless-b/main router? My thinking is that network traffic between those 2 machines should be maximized since its isolated from the rest of the network via being on a different router. They have minimal need to actually access the internet or any of the other pcs, though I don't want to totally isolate them.

Or am I just over-analyzing it?

Yes, you are. :) For max speed just stick those comps on a wired gigbit switch . The wireless will be the limiting factor here, there is no need for more than one router. If you need more ports, get a switch or use th other router as a switch.
