Okay so i'm building a PC and I need help finding a motherboard that is the best bang for my buck. Right now I have a Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2PH on hands that I know will work fine, but will it hinder performance at all? Also I am choosing between these two processors below? Are both compatible with that motherboard? I am more likely to choose the i5 because I keep getting told that most games don't use more than 4 cores in your processor so the AMD wouldn't be used to its full potential.

An Intel processor requires an Intel compatible motherboard, based on the socket type. Similarly, an AMD processor requires an AMD compatible motherboard, based on the socket type. This is the most basic understanding when building a computer. It seems you could use some help in understanding how to build a system.

Read up on the following then read through various threads here in the "Hardware and Technology" forums, especially here in "General Hardware".

It will also be good to determine the size of the computer case you want. Most builds are ATX with many now going smaller with the Micro-ATX.

ATX Mid Tower - Typical desktop tower size designed to fit the ATX motherboard size. Most but not all ATX cases fit various motherboard sizes (ATX, micro-ATX, mini-ITX). Verify the motherboard you choose will fit in the case you want.

Micro-ATX Mini Tower - Will fit the micro-ATX motherboard size. Slightly smaller than the ATX size, often with slightly fewer features and capabilities but still good depending on your needs.

Mini-ITX Tower - Will fit the mini-ITX motherboard sizes. Smaller than the Micro-ATX size, often with fewer features. Super portable but it is doubtful you need this small.

Your other thread shows better preparation but still did not answer the questions (asked/required) in the stickied thread referenced above asking for input on your project.

For reference, your other thread.
Here is my full build for gaming. Advice?
