Hey guys,

I'm about to get a new i5 system and will be going for these parts:

Intel i5/750
MSI P55-GD65 motherboard
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB

I haven't figured out what memory to get though, so I could use a little advice.

I will be going for 8gb and have good experience with Corsair. I probably wont be doing much overclocking (except for the OC Genie on the MSI board), so I assume I will just need some DDR3-1333 memory? Would 2x4GB modules be a better choice than 4x2GB?

Thanks

4x2gb is a crapload cheaper, and the same for your needs (extreme overclockers would prefer 2x4gb because of less stress on the IMC, but its a non-issue for you)

I see three advantages of 2x4gb:
#1: Room to upgrade
#2: Less stress on IMC (non-issue if u arnt pushing the limits of an OC)
#3: Less power

Advantages of 4x2gb:
#1: Wayyyy cheaper
#2: Tighter timings

I do have a question though for u guys though. How hard is it for the i5-750's IMC to handle a 1T command rate with 4 dimms vs 2? Either way you will be able to extract tighter timings in general out of 4x2gb so im giving the advantage to them, but just kinda wondering

What applications are you using that would require 8GB's of memory?

None yet I guess, but considering the current memory prices and the fact that I tend to keep my systems for a long time (3-4 years at least) I figured I might as well get 8gb right away.

Cheap is good, so I will probably go for 4x2gb. Specific brand recommendations is still wanted as I can't seem to find many memory tests outthere. Are the modules so much alike these days that differences in performance are so small that tests wont make much sense?
