Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone out there with more knowledge than myself might be able to help me in picking a laptop out. I have always had desktops before but I have become disabled and a lot of the time I can't sit up for gaming as much as I would like :(. I never really considered getting a laptop before since you have to pay so much more for the hardware vs a desktop but the portability factor would be a great convenience for me now. I have been trying to research as best I can and I think I can come up about $1000 - $1300 to spend. I'd like to future-proof this as much as possible (Well, as much as someone can with a laptop) and my biggest concern is that new hardware may be coming out just around the corner. I've read that Nvidia's 800m series is going to be coming out in February or March. Would it be better for me to wait for those to become available? I don't think I have heard anything about big changes in CPUs so I think I'm OK on that. Any advice or direction anybody could give me would be greatly appreciated. I'll continue to do research on my own and thanks for taking the time to read my post :)

It would help to know if you would consider a used machine. Personally I believe you can get a very powerful machine in that price range, but I would want new only. Also do you want 15 or 17 " screen?
Also are you willing to purchase a machine via internet? If yes, this would be one option in that range: http://www.gentechpc.com/config.asp?config_id=GE70-2OE-017US
Best of luck with whatever you get

Thanks for replying. I would be absolutely OK purchasing used/refurbished as long as I knew everything was working as it is supposed too. I also have no problem purchasing something online, although I would be a little bit nervous about them leaving it on my doorstep and it getting ripped off. In addition I'm not to concerned about size/weight either, I don't plan on hauling it around too much. It's main use would be for surfing the internet/playing games in bed when I can't get up.
