Need advice on Intel based board

Can some of you folks give me some advice on what would be the best board for use with a P4 ?

Stability/speed is my top priority, no need for overclocking, built in audio, or built in video. Price is a mild consideration.

I just get confused looking at all the reviews and Im not familiar with building an Intel machine. Was looking at the Intel board with the Intel875P chipset, just not sure. Any advice welcome.

Well, if price really is a factor, look at the ABIT IC7 (non-G). But if you can afford the extra few dollars, look at the IC7-G or MSI NEO-FIS2R. I picked up the IC7-G and have had no problems with it. There are lots of extras that you don't really notice that comes with the IC7-G, 1 rounded ATA cable, 1 rounded floppy cable, 2 SATA cables, 2 SATA Y power splitters, 1 Serille 2 ATA->SATA adaptor. These things all add up. The Serille 2 is ~$25-30, and the cables are another $5-8 as well. So if you were going to be purchasing these cables anyway, you might want to look more closely at the overall cost of buying them seperatly with a motherboard vs getting them with the motherboard. The price of the Serille 2 alone is about 1/3 the difference in the costs between the IC7 and the IC7-G, add on $60 for the price of a 10/100/1000 Intel Pro NIC, and you already far exceed the differences.

It might also be a decent idea to wait for some reviews of the 865-based boards coming out any time now. They should offer comparable performance to many 875-based boards with an 800 FSB, but be far cheaper.

Thanks fellas. The IC-7G does look like a sweet board, and its good to know about those cables.

I've built plenty of AMD based systems but this will be my first Intel based in a lond time. The many diff chipsets are a little confusing to me, getting the better performer that is.

It will probably be a few weeks before I order anything so Ill keep my eyes open for those reviews. If anyone else has any thing to add feel free.
