need advice on IBM notebooks

i am to get an IBM notebook below $1500. i would appreciate some advice.

um, I got a Thinkpad 770ED for $310, works great, very stable, Ive a few at work, also pretty stable and great to use

If you want a NEW ThinkPad, the only one in your price range is the R series. It's not a BAD laptop like the previous i series was, but it's not a really good one, either.

You would be better off buying a used T series, which is IBM's flagship laptop. They're built tougher, and have better integrated features.
