need advice on how to deal with local gas company. regarding a tank.

Go out and shoot it to remove any remaining gas.
Video tape this.
Have family sell tape.
Profit.

How much if any gas is left in it?

Id run whatever is using the gas so that its empty and then disconnect the tank and put it in the farthest corner of the yard, or someplace out of site.

it has none in it.

there is NO way to move this thing. it is the size of a small car. a 500 gallon propane tank is not easy to move.
