Need Advice On Hardware

Hi. I have an old dell dimension 4500 with a Pentium 4 1.80 ghz , 512mb of ram and some crappy ATI Rage 128mb video card. I want to upgrade the video card to something a little better. I dont play any games on this comp I just use it mainly for editing pictures with photoshop cs. What video card would you suggest? Thank you.

if you dont game, there is absolutely no reason to upgrade your video card (unless its giving you problems, and has poor 2d picture quality? - in that case, pick up a cheap 9550 128bit card .) For photoshop performance increase, though, i exect chucking more ram in there would be much more beneficial.

Yeah, even thought that Rage 128 isn't really 128mb like you stated, it's still fine for 2d work. A faster videocard isn't going to help photo editing. Like Azzy64 said, more ram is probably your best bet for an affordable upgrade.

Yes, a newer video card would not help at all.

More RAM and a better CPU would help PhotoShop, but a system so old probably is not worth upgrading.
