Need advice on gaming pc

Hi everyone, I am building my son a gaming pc and would like some advice.
I originally did not want to spend no more than 600.00 on all items but I am at about 800.00.Any advice will be greatly appreciated.Here is the list of hardware that i have put together,I already have keyboard,mouse,monitor.

But, to get a jump, answer the questions in this sticky.

Can give you more once you answer the sticky, but just right off the bat I would say your are not well balanced, for gaming the GPU is extremely important, so you can back off on the CPU a bit to make sure you are graphics powered.

You can also back off on the PSU, more than you will need. Same on mobo.

Make sure to mention if you are near a Microcenter or not.

It all depends on what you (or your son) is trying to achieve. Do you want to do full graphic settings all the way to the highest at 1080p? Or is the monitor a lower resolution and do you think he would be fine with 30fps? Also, how tech savy are you/your son? Basically, you don't need to know much to overclock, but if you aren't planning on doing it, you can save alot of money.

Off the top, drop the cpu down a notch, and up the GPU up a bit. Drop the 750w psu and get something smaller. Around 500w will be more than enough from a QUALITY vendor. If you are not going to be using a 64 bit OS, you don't need 8gb worth of RAM - and you can also drop down to a Extreme 3 motherboard and be just fine.

Dump the i5 for a i3 and get a 7770/6850 instead of the 560ti and your at $600...The ssd can be dumped to save yourself some cash as well.

As someone who has a 180gb intel 330 ssd,sure its nice to load stuff fast but it does not give me a extra fps period,so one can be added later like this one was to my pc.

19" 720p tv? On an $800 budget you'd be better off with a new monitor for $150 then building a $650 rig.

If changing up the monitor isn't an option, really don't spend more than $600 on this. 720p doesn't require that fast hardware.

Your son will get 60fps and enjoy the game.

I say use the PSU until it dies. no reason to just drop it. But that is a over kill in wattage. Your better off with 500w psu quality brand.

Me personally would go i5 35k and a 120 dollar 460 1GB if hes at that res he needs nothing more then a 460 1GB.

sli/cf= no you're better off going with single card solutions as it saves headaches

as for your build cut the ssd completely and cut down on the psu and pickup the 7850 power edition or 7870 HAWK . it should be around the same price but it'll be waayyyy better once you pick up the 1080 monitor

just for a reference standpoint.

I mostly play the COD series of games, especially MW3 and crysis 2
my rig was built in late 2008 and I run 1920x1080

Its an asus Maximus 2 Formula with a Core 2 Duo E8500
4 gigs of ram
two 500gb drives
and previously a 4870 gpu

I never was lacking for FPS and solid gameplay
I switched to a 6870 for a cheap bump in graphics power last year

I am not lacking for my need to fire up a shoot em up game from time to time to burn off stress.

This core2 duo setup is still getting the job done for what I am doing

having said that, my system is a dinosaur compared to whats out now and I'm upgrading to the i5-3750k on an asus Z77 pro board but I'm still going to use my 6870

Cut off the ssd drive unless you score a killer black friday deal and get a 128gb drive for under $70 (i snagged the samsung 128gb sata III from newegg for $69.99 last week)

drop the 750w PSU and get a nice 500 or so watt psu from seasonic
the mobo/cpu combo can be had dirt cheap from your local Microcenter

You should be able to, with a little research and patience, get a nice gaming rig for sub $600 in the next week or two as we get closer to the full on black friday deals.

Do you already have a case? If not, I recommend a full tower to avoid any kind of space constraints whether it be now or further down the road. As suggested above drop the SSD. Also drop the aftermarket CPU cooler unless you're certain you want to overclock.

u can have an awesome system for about $600. I assume u don't need a case or operating system? I wouldn't mess w/ SLI or crossfire. It's nothing but a headache. I swore I'd never do it again. u spend more on the motherboard and power supplly than u need to. Don't forget u get $40 off a motherboard at microcenter when u buy a 3570k. Make sure u get a video card w/ 2gb vram. Use pcpartpicker.com to help out. BTW I like OCZ power supplies. I've put 3 in pc's and haven't had any problems (fingers crossed).

Make it at least 1TB - at the very least, if you want there to be much room in the future!!

Definitely upgrade the monitor, or get the cheapest HD 7770 that you could find and call it a day!

I'd recommend Z77 Pro4 as that saves yet another $25 or so - especially the mATX version, that allows a micro ATX or an ITX case to be used! Ivy Bridge doesn't need much cooling, and a small case saves some room and looks neat!

EDIT- there's almost ZERO difference between Pro4 and Extreme4.. at least for single video card users!
