Hi I recently put together a rig with a BFG 7900GS OC, I discovered that the cooling on this thing is really minimal, especially on the RAM chips, there's NOTHING no cooling nothing. Can anyone here suggest a cooling product I can use to put on the RAM chips? I checked out Zalman vf900, it's just soso compare to stock and it does cool the RAMs. I'm planning to OC this card so need to add some extra cooling if possible. Any suggestions?

My vf900 works great. I have it on my 7800gtx ko and it idles in the 50's in an HTPC case. Same card, with the stock cooling, in a P180 idled in the 70's.

I agree. The VF 900 works great. I have one on my PNY 7900GS. Went from idle of 42c to an idle of 36c. Its a great cooler. Don't know if its the best or not but its a good cooler.

thanks for your opinions, seems vf 900 is highly recommended. But I saw the OC results it don't seem to do much better than stock.

usually the extra overclocking overhead that comes from upgrading a video card's cooler is pretty minimal, unless it's a hot card and has a crappy cooler. even though this one has a crappy cooler, it's not a hot card, so i wouldn't expect the overclocking limits to increase too much. mine 7900gs is running at 555/840. i know the core's low, but i don't think getting a better cooler would help me overclock it better, as i think it's just not too good of an overclocker (as far as 7900gs's go), but the ram is really good (i think 840 is really good), and although cooling it might help me overclock it higher, it's probably near its limits already. basically what im getting at is overclock it before you upgrade the cooler, so you can decide whether or not the new cooler will be worth it in terms of how much additional headroom you can expect (eg whether your chip/ram's overclock will be limited by heat or just by the limits of the chip).
