I have been attaching my camera via USB to back of my comp for 2 years already
it has to stop

i have seen some USB media readers for like $29.99 and i have seen some ones that you have to install into either floppy bay or disk bay such as this:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?...manufacture=nGear%20Technologies%20Inc.

How is it any different than regular card reads which you do not have to install (the ones that come with USB cord)

is one faster than the other?
what are pros/cons of using each one

Purchasing one of these card readers that fit inside a floppy disk drive bay requires a little more work because you have to make sure your motherboard has the USB headers required to connect the card reader to your motherboard. I have used on in the past that will fit into my floppy disk bay but used a USB cable that I fed through a hole at the back of the computer.

USB card readers are more convenient because you can just disconnect it and take it to any computer that requires it. Just make sure that if you need to write to your media that you get a card reader that has read/write capabilities.

is there much difference between internal ones and external ones that connect via USB port?

the reason why i am asking is cause external costs quite bit of money, and i am broke like a bum here cause i just bought C2D system last friday and cant exactly shell out $40 extra for USB one if i can get internal one for cheap

I use a very simple, small plug in reader/write that I carry in my camera case at alltimes. That way I can off load pictures into any PC available. That suits me since I travel a lot.

Ojai's list from Newegg provides many choices - all quite reasonably priced.

BTW - just curious - why does someone from NYC use the name of a small town in California (where I grew up) as a user ID? :)

i am from canaduh, so no newegg for ne :'(

but regardless, thanks for help.
i think i ll get money and just buy usb plug in reader/writer

also, by the links Ojai provided, ALL OF the readers/writers look to be buggy
every one has a con
either its false advertising or not working at all.
wtf, there must be a good brand

i chose "sort by top sellers" and even then, ppl saying they are buggy and false

I forget which dealer operates in Canada - either MWave or Monarch Computers. Give them a shot to see if you can find some more brands.

As for the name - :) - I didn't even know about Ojai until a few years ago. It was more of a Chinese thing. "Jai" means boy.
