need advice on cable tv bill

i live in germantown, md and our cable tv bill is ~$40 for "basic preferred" but i found out some people (they live in rockville, md) have been able to get the same channels for $17 with the same cable company. neither of us has the really special channels like hbo or the showtime and junk... i called the cable company to ask and they said the price i'm paying is the correct one. =( is this true or is there a way to keep the channels i have and pay less? they price depending on where you live.

both houses are in montgomery county maryland (we are in germantown, they are in rockville) same company-- comcast...i called company on if there's difference in the price depending on city within the same county, they said for montogmery county there is no difference.

so give them your friends name and address and tell them you either want $17 a month, or them to pay the same as you.

well, one friend has the $17, but they admit it' probably a mistake on comcast's part...

the other person has the $17, but they want to know why we aren't getting it...

it's not me who's really crazy to lower the price (i already had to call the cable company and asked all sorts of questions) i just wanted to know if its possible.

Cable companies mess up billing all the time. The $17 has to be a mistake. I think taxes alone will get you that much. 😉

I pay $45 for Family Cable (one up from Broadcast Basic which are simply CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, UPN, WB). No HBOs or Showtimes of course.

You may rat your friends out on that $17, but it won't do YOU any good... it'll get them to pay more if you feel like being that sort of person.
