My comp before my mobo craped out on me was
480W Thermaltake Pure Power
GA-7VAX
1800+ anthlon xp OC to 2000+(couldn't get any higher because of memory)
geforce4 ti4600
512 pc2700 crucial memory
120 gb 7200 rpm western digital

Now i know thats crap now but it only cost me like 400-500 bucks
including the burners i have.

I haven't been paying attention to the PC scene in like a year or so and I wanna know what are you guys using now. I'm looking to pay up to 300-400 dollars for a motherboard and a proccessor..im open to intel mobos too. Someone told me about the K8Upgrade760GX mobo.. and to get like a 3000/64 Athlon cpu. I'm gonna slowly upgrade my comp. I'm not trying to rush everything in.. But I need Cpu and Mobo right now.
Also what are some good CPU coolers out there now.

Any help would be appericiated.

Thanks

FYI
Im using my brother's login..Thats why the specs in the sig are different then the one I posted.

Definately go for the new Skt939 Athlon 64 3000+. I like the ASUS "A8V Deluxe" VIA K8T800 Pro Motherboard for roughly $135 w/shipping.

Also, when it comes time to upgrade the video card, the 9800 Pro 128mb is the very best for the money. I've seen them for as low as $150.

yeah, but for newer games, youre going to want something more advanced. id recommend something from the x700 or 6600 series at the least.
