Need advice on block size for RAID 0...

I'm getting ready to setup my two Maxtor d740X 40 gig drives in a RAID 0 configuration using a Highpoint Rocket Raid 100 controller. I don't know if it allows to be to set block transfer size but if it does, what would be the best size for performance? This is primarily a gaming/oc'ng rig.

Try 64kb or smaller. Should be a good blend for loading game textures (not that large) and every day usage. Your not doing any video editing or encoding/decoding are you? If so you may want to look at 128kb.

Don't know about PC's but on high end Unix servers I've found either 32K or 64K to be the best general stripe size. I would suggest 32K for a PC.

Well, I have it up and running. It's at 64k. It wouldn't let me change it. So far so good. My Sandra file system bench is way up (24,000+) and my PCMark 2002 HDD score almost doubled to 1300+.
Thanks guys 🙂

That is the stripe size that I have on my Iwill Side raid(recommended by anandtech for best overall). I would take a look at that Sandra score though. I am getting around 40000. I am using the latest version of Sandra. Also you may want to try using HD Tach(do a search on it). I get around 45000 average read on HD Tach.
