It might be tiny at the moment for some.. but it'll become a bigger drawback as the year progresses. DX9 support is a must IMO. 5600 Ultra rev2 can be found once in a while for $100...... like this past black friday sale at CU.

OK I'm confused - looking at Pricewatch

Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb = $130
Radeon 9500 Pro 128mb = $188

going by price 9500 pro is a better performer then the 9600 pro ??

Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb = $130
Radeon 9600 SE 128mb =$85

Is the Pro vs the SE performance make a signifcant diff for a budget system that will run "Max Pain II" (which says it uses DircectX9.0) ?

The 9500 pro is a better performer than the 9600 pro, but is definitely not worth $58 more. If you're looking at spending $188 then get either an fx5900 or a 9700. If you're looking at spending $130 though, then consider getting a 9600xt, which is $132 after rebate at compusa currently, which is a great deal. And yes the 9600se vs the 9600 pro is a big differnce. The se is a MUCH slower card. I personally wouldn't touch it.

Personally I'd go for a 9600 Pro. Getting a low end card like a 5200Ultra, 9600SE, or a DX8 card like the 4200 is kind of silly. They are have problems with advanced games, why not spend a bit more and get a good 9600 or even more and get a 5700, and have a good card. If you're going to upgrade, why not do it right?

Not everyone play games
look, DaveJ412 can stay with a GF2pro for that long... I think a 9600 or Ti4200 will fit him enough

LOL my brother still plays games with a gf2gts card. He has been playing call of duty with it. But he told me it takes awhile after he shoots to hit the enemy. I recommended he get a 9200 it'll at least be better than the geforce 2. Long as it plays the game normal settings 800x600 he's happy.
