I have a bit of a challenge for you. My grandfather's 15 year-old TV is dying, and he really needs a new one. Here's what he'll be looking for:

1) He'll want something in the range of 32 to 36 inches in size.
2) He hates how most new TV's look. Therefore, he'll probably want a console model with a wooden cabinet.
3) He likes domestic products, so models from Sony, Hitachi, and the like are probably not recommended. YES, I know that almost all TV's are no longer made in the USA now, but I'd still feel better recommending a "domestic sounding" brand name.

Anyway, here's what I was thinking of recommending. It's no Sony WEGA, but it least it LOOKS like something he might buy:

RCA 36 inch console

My mother bought a nice Zenith in cabinet which still works to this day. It had a power supply which blew out once but that cost $30 to fix and replace.

I'd also check out Zenith.

If he wants a good TV then he should buy Panasonic or Toshiba.

I'll throw a vote in for a Zenith, we got ours from my grandparents several years before I was born (being 19 now) and it worked flawlessly until my parents replaced it with a new, bigger Zenith this year.
